What better way to kick off Fat Tuesday week than a 5K through the streets of Hamtramck. The Paczki Run, organized by Tour de Troit, kicks off on February 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. The starting point is at 9011 Joseph Campau and takes you through the streets of Hamtramck’s, known as “the world in two square miles.” The race costs $45 if you register before Jan. 30, 2022. It increases to $55 after Jan. 30.

Sterling Services LTD, a local business and community leader in philanthropy, donated resources to the run joining other community businesses in creating this annual event in Hamtramck. Sterling has supported this event for as long as it has been in existence.

“We sponsor the Paczki Run every year,” said Jason Eddleston, VP of Operations at Sterling. “We are glad to support other proud Hamtramck businesses in sponsoring this event each year. It is a special day in our backyard that brings people together to support our community and have a good time!”

The Paczki Run falls on the Saturday before Fat Tuesday with a polka party following the run. After the race, cool down from your run with a beverage and a paczki for crossing the finish line. Afterwards, head to the many bars and restaurants downtown for revelry and good food. Official entrants will receive discounts at participating businesses in Hamtramck. Prizes will be given to each of the winner’s.

In conjunction with the physical race, the organizers are also putting on a virtual 5K. The virtual 5K costs $35 and you must register by March 5, 2022. Registrants for the virtual 5K create their own course and submit their results to the organization directly. They have a week to complete their race and submit their results.
