Every Thanksgiving, Sterling Services purchases turkeys for their employees for Thanksgiving dinner. This year they started a new tradition to donate to the Detroit Friendship House in Hamtramck, Mich. to help a number of families this holiday season.

This year, Sterling purchased turkeys from Kap’s Retail in Detroit’s Eastern Market district. They handed out 13 turkeys to their employees for Thanksgiving dinner. This continues a string of community outreach that Sterling does all year long. Last year, they donated to the Food for Fowling event, which was cancelled this year due to Covid-19. So instead, they decided to donate to the Friendship House to help those families that are in need of a meal on Thanksgiving.

The Detroit Friendship House is a privately funded food bank that helps the citizens of Hamtramck, Mich. who need assistance. They offer food, clothes, and non-perishable items. Currently, the Detroit Friendship House has extended their services beyond Hamtramck, helping those citizens in Detroit as well.

Whether it is taking care of their own employees, helping Hamtramck clean their neighborhoods, or donating to upgrade a local park, Sterling finds a way to make sure their community is taken care of.
